The Abbey of Novacella was founded in 1142 and is still being run by Agustinian monks. Its vineyards are located on excellent sites in Italy’s northern-most winegrowing area. (Isarco Valley) The white varieties ripen at altitudes ranging from 600 to 900 metres above sea level.The morenic nature of the soil is particulary suitable to grow aromatic white grapes like: Kerner, Gewurztraminer, Muller Thurgau, Sylvaner and Gruner Veltliner.
Due to the method of planting, Guyot, along with the altitude and continental climate, the production per hectare is limited to 90 quintals.
